How to Use Linden Realms!

You can find the Linden Realms through the destination guide. They are at the top just below Winter Activities. You can choose between three places. I just picked Portal Park 1 as a example. Once you’ve teleported successfully. You land in a safe zone with other visitors. You aren’t there yet so follow the arrows and walk through the glowing gate.

You will drop down to another part of the Realm. At the beginning in front of the base camp spot. A HUD with crystal icons will pop up on your screen. It’s automatic and if you want to take it off. You either replace your current outfit or relog back into Second Life to your home. Now before I go into what’s what. They have some strict rules here. There is no flying and no teleporting unless you die from a monster and yes you can die many times over. You can go to the Linden Realm Wiki for more information on the monsters and deaths. If you happen to fly, teleport, or manage to take off your HUD while still on sim you will be ejected back to your home location since it’s against the rules. Anyway… once your HUD has loaded, start walking!

Follow the stone path along the grass until you get to the appropriate building. It should say “Workshop” on a sign in the front of it. Go inside the workstation and step on the pink/yellow circle that’s on the floor to receive your first quest. There are currently four quests. He will tell you what to do so always keep your local chat open for instructions. You are collecting crystals for him to make flares. Once he gives you the flares, he will ask you to go light his four cannons for him. They are somewhere on the sim but, he gives you the location of each area on the HUD. You can’t teleport through the HUD without getting ejected but, you can click on it so the red arrow points you in the right direction without getting lost. It’s pretty easy to follow if you use the HUD to show you the locations. Every time you complete a task always come back to this workshop to get another flare and a new cannon location for the quests. He will pay you 5L for each of the four quests.

After you’ve completed all four quests there really isn’t much left to do except collect more crystals and cash them in for lindens. Outside the workshop on the left are two crystal collectors. If you have any leftover green or blue crystals from your quests you can trade them in here. 1 Blue Crystal will get you 2L for each one but, those are pretty rare. 1 Green Crystal will get you 1L and those are semi rare. Do no cash in your blue or green crystals unless you don’t want to complete your four quests. Blue and Green crystals are scarce and you will need some for those four quests to be completed.

You can continue collecting other colored crystals but, they do not pay out as fast. 50 Red Crystals will get you 1L, 50 Yellow Crystals will get you 2L, and 50 Orange Crystals will get you 5L. I suggest only going for the Orange ones. I picked up blues and greens along the way. You still have to watch out for monsters as they will get you and send you back to a resurrection spot!

Now once you’ve found the Portal Workshop in the wood’s on Tyrah’s Island. You just stand on the appropriate circle based on it’s color. It will deduct the crystals from you and pay you that amount in lindens. If you have more than 50 than you just keep stepping on that particular circle to be paid again. A bit of caution. This is tedious and I only suggest playing if you have no other way to get the lindens. I just wanted to give it a go to see what it was like. It’s not bad at all if you are bored.

So… Linden Realms bought me a dress and cute fox back pack for this post. I wanted to show you how decent these can be for new people. If you know what to do, finish the four cannon quests, and know where to go from there. You can turn in the colored crystals for lindens. A couple hours of gathering can be a little profitable. I know 72L is not much lindens for 2-5 hours of scavenging however the amount can vary depending on what you find at random. I think it pays more than 2L a hour at a camping spot and slightly less boring since you have to dodge monsters. It’s like a sim hunt. I’m assuming it’s still in testing stages but, if they ever raised the linden prize amount I could definitely see this thing replacing some grid hunts. I think it’s a good start for new people to get in on the shopping and sales events. Some lindens are better than no lindens and 70L is 70 dollarbies, 14 items for 5L, 7 items for 10L, or this nice dress I got on. It was only 30L, backpack was 5L, and I have 37L left over. All because I played Linden Realms for a couple hours today. It gives you something else to do in here for new and old residents. I like it!
